In order for a max sword to actually do 15-22 base damage you need 12 in swordsmanship; just meeting the requirement isn't enough.

It's advised that any melee weapon/bow user have 12 or as close to 12 in thier weapon as possible.

How do builds like this actually work?

I don't quite understand. Nater and Lambda's builds are similar but how are the chains started off and such?

i have the same question in mind. I tried lambda's build for a bit and notice that the Deadly Riptose and Riptose will end if it block an attack. do i need to constantly keep it up? if so energy might be a problem between HB, Flurry, and Deadly Riptose. If possible can you explain how to use the build, like some example of sistuations and the skills use to counter? Also shouldnt there be a bleed skill some where? it is nice for soloing. Thanks.

P.S great build BTW

A 15 tactics Riposte deals 60 damage (I think, I usually have my tactics specced at 16 when I use it). Under flurry, you can use Riposte every 4 seconds. Deadly Riposte is... I think 50 damage at 15 tactics, and 24 or 25 seconds of bleeding every 8 seconds. When faced against melee mobs, those two skill pack quite the punch. Provided of course, you have a Zealous Hilt to maintain it all.

Personally Nater, I would use Desperation Blow in place of Power Attack. The recharge is 3 seconds more, but for a higher +damage bonus and the chance of deep wound I think it's well worth it.

Understood, but say you have a req 9 collectors sword...with swordmanship at 8, you might as well not be weilding a weapon at all. At 9 will will be doing 9/12 of the dmg it could at 12...right?

Why I assumed his Sword must have been 11..because Dual Riposte you might as well take all the pts out of Swordmanship and put them into Tactics and Strength...but you an Racthoh know that...where ya think I learned everything from?

And sumasage..give me NO credit for these types of builds. I'm merely following in the shadow of greatness. I have however learned well, to the point of my guild promoting me to officer for always seeming to be the last one standing when all others have fallen. (as any Tank should :\ )

Back to the line in question, can someone actually explain sort of roughly how this type of warrior build works? I don't really understand with RIPOSTE and Deadly Riposte, it gets confusing.

Riptose, For 8 seconds, while you have a sword equipped, you "Block" the next attack against you, and your attacker takes 15-51 damage.

Deadly Riptose, For 8 seconds, while you have a sword equipped, you block the next attack against you, and your attacker takes 5-41 damage and begins bleeding for 3-21 seconds.

Whats not to understand about Riposte and Deadly Riposte?(be more specific)
Next time you get hit(when you have Riposte or Deadly Riposte on) You get delt no damage, unless its an unblockable skill, and the one who hit you (if you had both on at same time) will get hurt by the Riposte's. I don't know if that made it clear but...

Is there a specific chain that this build follows? Or does it base itself primarily on Riptose and Deadly Riptose for damage dealing?

Lets say you were in the underworld facing 3 flash golems, how would you fight using this build?

An easy way to see just how strong Riposte and Deadly Riposte are - fight Sand Wurms.

First, fight them by inflicting no conditions, just flat out raw physical weapon of choice attack skills at 16 of your weapon attribute. Then, switch to 16 tactics with Riposte and Deadly Riposte, along with 0 sword. Finally, 16 Tactics with Flurry on your bar as well as the dual Ripostes. For kicks, use For Great Justice as well.

Haha...For Great Justice would be over kill, as the worms wouldn't even attack as fast as you could get Riposte up each time! That's a great idea for those struggling to find out how to pull it off.

Fighting worms is a great example, as it will allow you to get your timing down. There is no reason a worm should ever hit you, because you can time the Ripostes just right that there will be one up every time he attacks.

Start the fight with Deadly Riposte, Flurry --> Riposte --> Flurry--> Riposte -->Deadly Riposte...rinse and repeat. Basically you spam Flurry and Riposte as fast as you can, and kick up Deadly Riposte everytime it charges.

If only Gladiators Defense would stack with them...wow..that would be total domination of any melee monster.

Where are those wurms? Ive been dying to get at them ever since I solo'd 2 wurms and a bunch of grasps in lvl 2 UW. Im also wondring what the bleached shell drop rate for them is.

Nobody noticed I only had 7 skills? The eighth is Sprint, by the way.

Using the build is pretty simple: just hit all the buttons as soon as they're ready. Well, in a rough order of importance (most to least):

- Dolyak Signet (keeping your armor up, I have Strength at 15 just so I can have permanent Dolyak)
- Riposte/Deadly Riposte (blocks attacks which reduces damage done to you)
- Watch Yourself! (more damage reduction)
- Healing Signet (I try to activate the Ripostes and Watch Yourself! while I'm using this because that -40 armor is going to hurt...)
- Melandru's Resiliance (just hit it when you need it really, watch out for the long recharge time though)
- Power Attack

Good points about my Swordsmanship requirement. The thing is, there are a some ranged enemies in Perdition, namely Dark Flame Dryders and Breeze Keepers, and I want to do some damage against them too with the same build (Deadly Riposte and Riposte only trigger off melee attacks). Also, against Flesh Golems, ideally I want to take them down one at a time as I don't want multiple Death Novae going off simultaneously (they do a ridiculous amount of damage and poisons you). So, some points in Swordsmanship would come in handy for singling them out. But I'm still juggling the points around so keep the ideas coming.

Desperation Blow is a nice idea too, Racthoh, I'll give that a try instead. Any idea from you is worth a try.

FYI, Dryders are a joke. Stay under 50% health when fighting them and you'll know what I mean.

Yup I noticed that too, but hacking them all to pieces is just sooooooo slow with just an occasional +damage attack.

That's why I use Desperation Blow. Deep Wound, Bleeding... doesn't take too long.

After some testing, I've come to the conclusion that Desperation Blow rocks! I wish I had figured out earlier that Dolyak Signet negates the knockdown inflicted by DB.

Anyways, I think I must've improved my timing as I can now survive Flesh Golems with two superior runes equipped rather than one, so that speeds things up a bit (more damage from Ripostes, more health from Healing Signet). I might try three superiors next time...
